Member Notice

SMS Phishing Scam

We've been made aware of a scam text, purporting to be from 'Credit Union', claiming that accounts have been 'placed on hold' and asking the recipient to click a link (to a cloned credit union website) to verify their account. Your credit union will never contact you by text or email asking you to click a link to verify your account

Joining Thurles Credit Union is the best decision you could make for your money. We accept new members of all ages from our surrounding areas in our common bond. This covers those who live or work in the Thurles Postal district (with the exception of Borrisoleigh, Templemore, Castleiney, Drangan and Fethard) and within a 10 mile radius of Roscrea Post Office.

JOIN ONLINE AND SAVE TIME

Anyone living, working, or studying in the common bond can now become a member of Thurles Credit Union without stepping foot in their offices. It’s all thanks to their new mobile app. You can apply in minutes, and once approved, you can transfer funds, apply for a loan and a whole lot more. It's fast, easy, and secure.

How To Join

You can now apply for membership straight from your phone. You'll need to submit the following documents along with your application:

  • Valid Photo ID -a passport or driver's licence
  • Proof of Address - a bank statement or utility bill dated within the past 6 months
  • Proof of PPS number (e.g. Official Government Document, Social Welfare letter etc.)

If you don’t hold a passport or driver’s licence please ask in your local credit union about alternative documentation that may be accepted in exceptional circumstances.

Persons wishing to open a new member account should:

  • ensure they have all the necessary documentation required
  • allow sufficient time for staff to process the membership application and meet our regulatory obligations

Members Benefits

Flexible & Convenient Loans

Members can take out flexible loans and repay at tailor-made schedules. All our loans are fully insured (for free) against disability or death, subject to policy requirements.

Interest is charged on Reducing Loan Balance

Interest is charged on the reducing loan balance - you only pay interest on what you owe. This means lower interest charges paid over the life of the loan.

Not-for-Profit Mutual Financial Co-operative

Thurles Credit Union is a not-for-profit mutual financial co-operative. Members own and control the Credit Union. All surplus goes back to the members.

Dividend on Savings

Last year, we paid a 0.1% dividend on members' savings, which are also placed in our Life Insurance scheme, offering a free insurance system on your savings.

Pay by Direct Debit

Arrange a Direct Debit payment from your bank and be sure of regular payments to your Credit Union account. We will send you a statement showing all transactions.
